Farmers protest disrupts Delhi traffic, diversions in place
Traffic across Delhi-bound highways was disrupted as toll plazas on the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway and nearby routes were closed amid the Farmers’ Mahapanchayat, with NHAI advising non-essential travel avoidance. Separately, the Delhi Traffic Police issued advisories for July 21 ahead of the Desh Bachao Morcha protest at Kisan Ghat, warning of possible diversions from 8:30 am and urging commuters to use navigation apps. Diversions are expected around major points such as Delhi Gate, Rajghat Crossing, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shantivan Chowk, the IP Flyover, and other surrounding stretches. Commuters were urged to plan ahead, avoid roadside parking, follow directions of traffic personnel, and depart early for airports and railway stations where applicable. The protests are led by Desh Bachao Morcha, opposing the India-US trade deal, with participation anticipated from farmer groups across several states. Authorities stressed coordination between police and traffic management and noted advisories could change based on on-ground developments.
