CoinShares UCITS platform debuts Bitcoin Mining ETF
CoinShares announced a major strategic expansion into Europe’s regulated investment ecosystem by unveiling a UCITS platform and its first fund, integrating this with its existing ETP business and broader asset-management capabilities. The move is designed to diversify product launches across exchange-traded products, regulated funds, alternative strategies, and on-chain asset management, creating multiple recurring fee channels while reducing reliance on any single category. By operating within the UCITS framework, CoinShares aims to access Europe’s largest institutional allocators—pension funds, insurers, and private banks—whose mandates commonly permit UCITS-compliant funds and ETFs. Industry data from EFAMA show Europe’s UCITS ecosystem held €26.3 trillion in net assets as of April 2026, underscoring the scale of the opportunity. CoinShares notes that the platform leverages existing relationships with allocators, with the wrapper being the main constraint before this move, as mandates could not hold certain debt securities that UCITS now allows. The company emphasizes a multi-engine growth strategy intended to broaden its investor base while preserving its core investment expertise and capabilities.
