The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has completed a Prosthesis Provision Exercise, delivering prosthetic limbs and other assistive devices to about 74 to 78 workers who sustained work-related injuries, with beneficiaries assessed, fitted, trained on use, and discharged after satisfactory evaluation. The programme, which began in April 2026, was closely monitored by the Fund’s Claims and Compensation Department to ensure all approved participants received the rehabilitation support outlined in the final report. NSITF credited the cooperation of prosthesis providers, employers, beneficiaries, and the monitoring team for the success of the intervention, noting flexibility in meeting special clinical needs, including a hip disarticulation prosthesis where required. Beneficiaries who could not participate due to death, unreachable contact, or refusal were replaced from a supplementary list to guarantee completion of the exercise. The final report details the range of devices supplied, including above-knee, below-knee, elbow and transhumeral prostheses, as well as silicone partial-hand prostheses, reflecting the programme’s breadth in restoring mobility and dignity for injured workers.
