A total of 206 Garda graduates were attested in Templemore as Intake 254, the largest class in seven years, with a diverse group including 24 officers born outside Ireland from 15 countries. About 100 of the new recruits are headed to Dublin, 56 to the Eastern Region, 31 to the North Western Region, and 25 to the Southern Region, with regional allocations also noted for Louth, Meath, Offaly, Donegal, and other counties. Specific postings include three new Gardaí assigned to Donegal (two to Letterkenny, one to Buncrana) and six to Offaly, reflecting ongoing expansion of frontline policing nationwide. The Gardaí also highlighted that the intake began on 17 November 2025 and forms part of the 2024/2025 recruitment campaigns, contributing to a total of 14,733 sworn Gardaí, 3,683 Garda staff, 304 reserves, and 604 additional trainees. Officials and local representatives welcomed the increases as strengthening community safety and frontline policing, noting the need for continued recruitment and resources. The attestation underscores a broad national push to expand policing capacity after a period of growth since recommencement of recruitment in 2022.
