Graham funeral plans set for DC and SC
Funeral plans for the late Sen. Lindsey Graham are set for July 28 in Washington, D.C., and July 29 in Columbia, South Carolina and Pickens County, with an arrival ceremony at the U.S. Capitol where his remains will be carried in by an Armed Forces Body Bearer Team and guarded by a Capitol Police memorial unit. The Washington National Cathedral service, scheduled for 2:00 p.m., will be invitation-only but livestreamed for the public, and will include a tribute from President Donald Trump. After the Washington service, Graham’s remains will be transported to South Carolina for a memorial procession and events beginning the morning of July 29, including a State House visit, a law enforcement-led procession with a South Carolina State Guard caisson detachment, and a F-16 flyover. The South Carolina services will culminate in a private family burial in Pickens County and other public observances in Columbia. Graham’s sister, Darline Graham, who was appointed to complete his term, and others involved have expressed gratitude for broad participation and the efforts of President Trump, the Washington National Cathedral, Senate leadership, First Baptist Church of Columbia, and the Senate Sergeant at Arms in arranging the tributes.
