Ocado to build large European automated CFC
Ocado announced it will build a large, automated Customer Fulfilment Centre for a fast-growing European national retailer, with the unnamed partner set to go live in FY28 and initial utilization just over half of capacity. The facility will deploy Ocado’s Re:Imagined technology, including 600s bots, On-Grid Robotic Pick and a fully automated freezer, as part of expanding its technology-driven solutions. The deal is not expected to have a material financial impact in FY26, and Ocado continues to target turning cash flow positive in the second half of the year and for FY27, with the company’s shares rising on the news. Tim Steiner framed the agreement as evidence of rising demand for Ocado’s automation offerings, noting it complements a prior deal with Asda. Funding for the project will come from existing operating cash flows, and analysts expect it to enhance delivery efficiency, support sustainability goals, and create local jobs amid a broader shift toward last-mile infrastructure investment. The articles collectively underscore Ocado’s ongoing push to monetize its robotics and automation solutions despite a wobbling stock price earlier in the year.
