Three Die Chicken Lorry Crashes East-West Highway
A five-tonne lorry carrying chickens crashed into a parked trailer on the East-West Highway in Tanah Merah, Batang Merbau, in the early hours, killing three people: the driver Norazeman Abdul Aziz, 42, and two attendants, Mohd Haikal Hanifah, 29, and Mohammad Zakwan Mohd Nor, 16. Emergency services were alerted around 4:26am, and firefighters extricated the victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene by health authorities. Multiple reports confirm the same trio of victims and chronology, with minor timing variances (around 4:15am–4:26am) across sources. Fire and Rescue personnel from Kemahang and Tanah Merah responded, and the operation concluded within the early morning hours. The incident is being investigated by authorities as a fatal traffic collision on the East-West Highway.
