Canada unveiled its coaching staff for the 2027 World Junior Championship, with head coach Misha Donskov leading a group that includes assistants Drew Bannister, Brad Lauer, Jim Hulton and Ryan Getzlaf, along with goaltending coach Dan De Palma and video coach Adam Filmon. The announcement confirms Donskov will also helm the 2026 and 2027 men’s world championships, as Canada aims to rebound from a bronze-medal finish this year after a shock loss to Norway. Getzlaf, a longtime NHL star and leadership figure, is set to make his international coaching debut on the national junior team, joining a CHL-heavy coaching cadre that also features Bannister, Lauer, and Hulton. Canada will compete in the 2027 World Juniors from December 26 to January 5 in Edmonton and Red Deer, with preparations including the World Junior Summer Showcase in Windsor this summer. General Manager Alan Millar lauded the staff for its blend of professional, Major Junior, and international experience, emphasizing development and winning on the international stage. The roster-building group includes several coaches with deep ties to Canadian hockey’s junior leagues and past bronze-medal success at the 2026 World Juniors.
