Shoppers Stop Q1 FY27 loss narrows, revenue rises
Shoppers Stop reported a narrowed consolidated net loss of ₹14.25 crore for Q1FY27 as revenue rose 11.2% to ₹1,291.41 crore, with total income at ₹1,296.83 crore and expenses up about 10% to ₹1,315.86 crore. On a standalone basis, the company posted a net loss of ₹16.71 crore with revenue of ₹1,185.38 crore. EBITDA climbed to ₹187 crore but margin slipped to 14.5% due to higher costs, while the department store and beauty segments continued to be growth engines, with beauty sales up around 15% and the fragrance category delivering a notable jump. Shoppers Stop opened eight new stores in the quarter, expanding its footprint to 288 stores, and pushed its premiumisation strategy forward through formats like Intune and a stronger beauty business. The company granted ESOPs and RSUs to employees during the period, and reaffirmed its aim to become debt-free by FY27, supported by a 1st Citizen loyalty program that has grown to about 1.38 crore members contributing a large share of sales. It also highlighted a contingent matter regarding a retrospective service tax levy on rental properties, noting a disputed amount in its results awaiting final decision in Supreme Court.
