Aaryn Williams Discusses Racist Past in Bravo Teaser

Aaryn Williams, whose racist and homophobic remarks on Big Brother 15 drew backlash in 2013, revisits the controversy in a preview of Bravo’s Small Town Trouble: Texas. She says she now understands how deeply ingrained her views were and how much harm she caused, calling her behavior the biggest regret of her life rather than simply a mistake. Williams attributes her past mindset in part to growing up around racism and wanting to please her late father, and says being publicly called out helped her break a cycle in her family. At the time, she apologized to Big Brother host Julie Chen but also said her comments had been taken out of context; she has since described her response as a long process of recognizing the harm she caused. The new series follows Williams, her husband Nick, and other couples in Boerne, Texas.
