Akums plans acquisition of Oriflame India's manufacturing assets
Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals will acquire Oriflame India's manufacturing facilities in Roorkee and Noida, along with a leased Noida warehouse, for ₹56 crore via its subsidiary Pure and Cure Healthcare, and expects completion by August 31, 2026. The deal marks Akums’ entry into the color cosmetics segment, expanding beyond its traditional pharmaceutical contract manufacturing business to include skincare, hair care, and makeup production capacity. The two plants bring ready-made manufacturing capabilities and Halal-certified European machinery, enabling potential domestic and export opportunities. This strategic diversification aims to diversify risk and capitalize on India’s fast-growing beauty and personal care market, leveraging existing capabilities to attract global and Indian beauty brands. While the acquisition is cash-funded and relatively modest in scale for Akums, its success will hinge on effective integration and the ability to win new clients in the competitive cosmetics sector.
