Astros reportedly interview Pujols for manager

The Houston Astros are interviewing Albert Pujols for their managerial vacancy, with former Astros All-Star Morgan Ensberg also among the candidates. Pujols brings a legendary playing career and managerial experience in the Dominican winter league and international competition, but no major-league coaching or managing experience; Ensberg has several years of minor-league managing experience. Houston’s new general manager, Randy Flores, was Pujols’ teammate in St. Louis, while Pujols’ ongoing personal-services contract with the Angels could require a buyout if he takes the job. The candidates reflect contrasting profiles: Pujols’ star power and connections versus Ensberg’s more extensive managing résumé.
