Bain Capital Plans to Acquire Vitabiotics, UK Operations, Meyer Organics Across India, Africa
Bain Capital has agreed to acquire Vitabiotics, the UK’s leading nutraceuticals company, including its UK operations and the VB Group, along with Meyer Organics in India and its Africa operations. Various reports cite deal values ranging from about $850-900 million to over $1 billion, with a final pact announced in July; terms were not disclosed in some releases. The investment will be led by Bain Capital’s Asia Private Equity team and backed by its global platform, leveraging India expertise to expand in key markets such as the Middle East and North Africa and China. The UK business will remain central with no immediate changes to day-to-day operations, while Bain emphasizes investment in digital capabilities, e-commerce, international distribution, supply chain resilience and new product development. Founder Kartar Lalvani will become Chairman Emeritus, and Tej Lalvani will continue as CEO as the group scales its brands internationally. The deal fits Bain’s broader strategy to consolidate wellness and nutraceutical assets and could reshape competition in the sector, particularly in India.
