Bakersfield Crash Kills Girl, Injures Three

A 12-year-old girl died after a red Hyundai sedan struck her and three other pedestrians on Harris Road near Marin Street in Bakersfield around 6:30 p.m. on Halloween. Police said the two adults and two children were crossing in an unmarked crosswalk; the other three pedestrians sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated, and investigators are examining whether speed or impairment played a role.
