Brendan Fraser surprised everyone at a screening of 'The Mummy' by showing up in costume
Brendan Fraser stepped into a London theater during a double feature of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns wearing the brown leather jacket and scarf that defined his character Rick O'Connell. Moviegoers who had come for the familiar adventure films found themselves face to face with the actor himself in full costume. Fraser told the crowd he felt proud to stand before them because both pictures had been made in Britain and he wanted them to know that fact. He explained that the team had not known whether the first film would land as drama, comedy, action, romance or horror until British test audiences helped shape its tone. Fraser then asked whether anyone in the room had not yet seen the movie and answered with a loud "Outstanding" when one hand went up. He mentioned his recent work in The Whale before stepping away so the screening could continue. Early in 2026 the studio confirmed that a fourth Mummy film would go forward with Fraser and Rachel Weisz returning to their original roles and with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett set to direct, scheduling the release for October 15, 2027.
