Champions League Plans Tributes for Nepal Flood Victims

UEFA will hold a moment of silence before all 18 Champions League matches this week to honor victims of Nepal’s flash floods and landslides. Stadiums will display a banner reading “You are not alone Nepal,” while UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin expressed solidarity with those recovering from the disaster. The floods, which began after an avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border on Aug. 26, have killed more than 1,300 people and left thousands missing, according to Nepali authorities. The Champions League schedule begins Tuesday, including Real Madrid’s match against Inter Milan, with six games each day through Thursday.

A banner is fine but I hope clubs also donate money to rescue and rebuilding efforts, that would mean more than symbolism.
Good to see football show solidarity with a country far from Europe for once, hope it raises awareness of the scale of this disaster.
Nice gesture, but Nepal needs real aid and resources, not just a moment of silence before kickoff.
