China Regulator Warns AI Crowds Out Traditional Sectors
China financial regulator vice minister Xiao Yuanqi warned that global investment in AI is becoming too concentrated, driving up leverage at technology firms and potentially fueling excessive expansion. He said the rush of capital is crowding traditional industries out of financing, raising their borrowing costs, constraining investment and production, and increasing credit risks. Xiao urged policymakers to develop frameworks to manage the economic effects of AI and prevent financial risks.
