Novartis Plans 140 Billion Won RLT Hub in Korea
Novartis will invest about 140 billion won to build a domestic radioligand therapy ecosystem in Korea, spanning manufacturing, logistics, research, and treatment capabilities. A memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health and Welfare was signed in Seoul to advance research, production, and patient access to RLT. The plan includes establishing a domestic RLT manufacturing facility, a sophisticated cold-chain logistics network, and expanding hospitals able to administer RLT from 10 to 30 nationwide. The initiative aims to strengthen Korea’s radiopharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing capabilities and to train specialized personnel in the field. Novartis has previously collaborated with Korean firms on technology transfer and clinical research, with this investment deepening that cooperation. Officials say the move will improve access to innovative cancer treatments for domestic patients and position Korea as a regional hub for RLT development.
