DBS Survey: 88% Use or Pilot Tokenised Money
A DBS survey of 422 business and finance leaders at companies with annual revenue over US$500 million found 88% are using or piloting tokenised money. Findings were reported Oct. 27-28, 2026. The June-July poll covered 11 markets including the US, UK, Australia, China and Germany. Stablecoins led at 63% using or planning adoption, then tokenised deposits at 53% and tokenised money market funds at 52%. Of the 88%, 24% had deployed at scale, 43% had limited live use and 21% were in pilots. 72% expect improved transaction traceability and auditability within two years. Lim Soon Chong said stablecoins "offer better fungibility across payment intermediaries, not just across banks" and are "less cumbersome from a permissioning standpoint." He said "Our interpretation is that there are significant benefits" and "The Chinese authorities are clearly pushing the internationalisation of the renminbi, so we expect this to go up." He added that the next chapter of cross-border finance will move value intelligently and securely, and that parallel settlement networks may add complexities and compliance obligations. WHAT'S CONTESTED: Outlets do not dispute the survey figures. Rated coverage is 0 left, 1 center and 1 right. No left-leaning outlet covered the story. Mint headlined that nearly 90% of businesses are turning to tokenised money.
