Dodgers land Halvorsen from Rockies before Aug. 3 deadline
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired right-hander Seth Halvorsen from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for outfielder Landyn Vidourek and right-hander Nick Frasso, in a move aimed at bolstering a thin bullpen ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline. Halvorsen, 26, is among MLB’s hardest throwers but has dealt with right shoulder inflammation and is on the 15-day IL, with a rehab start underway and velocity reportedly back near his peak. The Dodgers are hoping his elite fastball can provide a late-inning boost as they navigate injuries to Edwin Diaz, Blake Treinen, Brusdar Graterol, Gavin Stone, and Shohei Ohtani. Vidourek, 22, was a Dodgers prospect known for his power at Single-A Ontario, while Frasso, 27, has battled long-term injuries and posted a solid minor-league track record. The deal signals Colorado’s roster reshaping ahead of the deadline and gives Los Angeles a chance to plug a high-velocity arm into Triple-A ahead of potentially adding him to the majors later in the season.
