CAQM Reviews 175 NCR Inspections, 25 Resumptions
The 135th meeting of the CAQM Enforcement Task Force in NCR reviewed enforcement actions for July 1–13, confirming 175 inspections across construction and demolition sites, industrial units, and diesel generator sets. Violations prompted proposals to close one project or industry, seal 19 DG sets, issue nine compliance directions, and impose environmental compensation in four cases, with actions tied to decisions from the previous ETF meeting. The meeting noted that all actionable cases in the industrial, C&D, and DG sectors have been addressed, and 25 resumption orders were issued after verification of compliance across Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Cumulative enforcement data showed 27,925 inspections to date, resulting in 1,803 closure directions and 1,446 verified resumption orders, while 126 cases were referred to SPCBs/DPCC and 231 entities remained under review for resumption orders. Road redevelopment works in Ghaziabad under Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam were reviewed, with 42 road stretches totaling about nine kilometres found to be fully compliant under the CAQM standard framework. The ETF emphasized stronger enforcement, inter-agency coordination, and adherence to environmental norms to curb air pollution across the NCR.
