Macklemore Removed From Sheeran Stadium Dates
Macklemore was removed from Ed Sheeran's remaining U.S. Loop Tour stadium dates after his Sept. 4 MetLife Stadium set, where he performed Hind's Hall and said Free Palestine. Rolling Stone reported the drop on Sept. 14; Macklemore confirmed it that day on Instagram. Messina Touring Group said the change followed venue talks so cancellations would not hit hundreds of thousands of fans. Macklemore wrote that Sheeran told him Robert Kraft, owner of Gillette Stadium, had rallied other owners into an ultimatum: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you will not be allowed to play in our venues. Sheeran also said Free Palestine and Palestinian flags were hurtful to people he spoke with. Macklemore replied that if those words offended more than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, a fundamental disconnect existed. Pink, after reposting MetLife criticism, wrote Friday: You don't get to decide that for us, saying her issue was not Free Palestine but violent images and claims the remarks were not about Jewish fans. An Israeli-American Council petition sought his removal. Kraft founded the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism in 2019. The promoter did not independently confirm Macklemore's Kraft account.
