Jennifer Lawrence Confirms Hunger Games Return

Jennifer Lawrence confirmed she will reprise Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper. The film opens November 20, 2026. Set 24 years before the first film, it follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, in the 50th Hunger Games with twice the usual tributes from each district. Ralph Fiennes plays President Snow and Francis Lawrence directs. Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson return with her after 11 years. On set Lawrence and Hutcherson walked arm-in-arm and Harrelson climbed through her hotel window uninvited. She said: "It was so emotional. Josh and I didn't walk to the bathroom without our arms around each other. It was so beautiful. And Woody, obviously, came through the window of my hotel room uninvited. It wouldn't be the same if he listened to boundaries or used a door." She also told of giving herself a pixie cut in 2013 to protest a wig refusal on Mockingjay.
