He received an immediate $2,000 cash incentive plus an additional $2,000 performance bonus under the National Sports Commission’s scheme, bringing his total prize to $4,000. In addition to Ezuruike’s achievement, Nigeria’s 3×3 basketball team achieved the country’s first-ever Commonwealth Games victory in that event, defeating the Cayman Islands 21-17. Ibrahim Dauda also delivered a strong performance in the same powerlifting event, lifting 140.1kg to place fifth as part of a competitive field.
