Pace Digitek’s Lineage Power Private Limited has established the Pace-Lineage Research Center in Pune to advance advanced battery technologies, particularly Advanced Chemistry Cells for Li-ion and Na-ion storage, with a collaboration with IISER Pune to push indigenous technology development. The initiative is framed as part of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India goals, aiming to strengthen domestic supply chains by evaluating raw materials from local suppliers and moving from assembly to in-house, academia-driven R&D. The research program focuses on improving battery capacity and cycling stability through coatings optimization, microstructure tuning, porosity control, and new electrolytes, alongside detailed material characterization and electrochemical evaluation. The plan aligns with a broader push to expand India’s energy storage capacity, with Pace Digitek signaling a shift toward proprietary ACC technology to create a competitive moat for utility-scale buyers. Reports note substantial capacity expansion and investment as the company targets expanding manufacturing to 10 GWh while leveraging the Pune center to broaden its core growth driver in the domestic market.
