FDA recalls 747,844 potentially nonsterile eye products
The FDA has classified Sterling Pharmaceutical Services’ recall of 747,844 eye-drop and ophthalmic-product units as Class II, citing concerns that the products may not be sterile. The recall covers nine products sold under several brands, including Walgreens, Reliable-1, AvKare, Cameron Pharmaceuticals, TRP The Relief Products and Major LubriFresh. A Class II recall means use could cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, while the likelihood of serious harm is considered remote. Consumers should compare product names, lot numbers and expiration dates with the FDA’s recall notice; anyone with an affected product should stop using it and contact a health care provider.
