Ford and Geely have agreed to form a Valencia, Spain-based manufacturing joint venture, with Ford owning 66% and Geely 34%. Production is slated to begin in the first half of 2027, with a plan to roll out four new models by 2028, including a Bronco variant and an all-new multi-energy crossover. The Valencia facility, capable of about 500,000 vehicles annually, will continue assembling the Ford Kuga during the transition while expanding to two Geely-branded electric SUVs and two Ford models as part of Ford’s five-vehicle European rollout planned by 2029. Regulators will need to approve the venture. The arrangement reflects ongoing Western automakers’ strategy to fill capacity, cut costs, and accelerate model introductions in Europe, while aiming to shield the Valencia site from restructuring and boost local employment. Geely gains a foothold in European manufacturing and a pathway to export both brands locally.
