Texas Woman Arrested in Alleged Child-for-Drugs Scheme
Alicia Evonne Sanchez, 37, has been charged in Smith County, Texas, with continuous sexual assault of a child under 14. Investigators allege she took the child to former Tyler doctor Kenneth Haygood’s office from 2019 to 2023, remained present during repeated assaults, and received prescription medication, including Adderall, in return. At least 10 visits are documented, though investigators believe the abuse occurred more often; the child was reportedly about 7 when it began and 13 when it ended. Sanchez allegedly told the child the conduct was part of what doctors do. She remains jailed on a $3 million bond, and the allegations against her have not been proven in court. Haygood was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2025 after pleading guilty to sex crimes involving other patients; several additional charges, including child-sex-abuse counts, were dismissed under his plea agreement.
