Ipswich Town sign Maeda from Celtic £10m
Ipswich Town have signed Daizen Maeda from Celtic on a three-year deal for about £10 million, marking the Japan forward’s return to the Premier League as the club’s seventh summer signing. Maeda arrives after a prolific Celtic tenure in which he scored 79 goals in 212 games and helped secure five league titles along with multiple cups, including a late-season spell of nine goals in seven matches that powered a domestic double. The 28-year-old World Cup contributor for Japan said he has long dreamed of playing in the Premier League and pledged to battle hard, score goals, and provide assists for Ipswich. Ipswich manager Gary O’Neil welcomed the acquisition, highlighting Maeda’s work rate, physical attributes, and ability to score and create for the team. The move positions Ipswich for their 2026-27 Premier League campaign, which starts on August 22 as they continue to bolster a promoted squad.
