Jiangxi Landslide Kills One, Leaves 11 Missing

A landslide triggered by torrential rain from Typhoon Saudel struck Gaoping in Jiangxi province, southeastern China, early Saturday, killing one person and leaving 11 missing. Two people were rescued alive, while about a dozen homes were damaged, including several that were destroyed. Emergency crews are searching the debris, moving residents to safer areas and working to prevent further incidents. The storm also caused severe flooding in neighboring Fujian province, where more than 100 homes collapsed and roughly 600,000 people were evacuated from high-risk areas.
