Lakers stage summer league mini-camp in Las Vegas
Basketball camps and team-building events dominated the summer sports scene, with the Lakers using a Vegas minicamp to foster chemistry among a reshaped roster and a wave of new faces ahead of the season. Former players turned coaches Chris Hines and Toure’ Murry led a Houston-area camp through their Vivid Dreams foundation, emphasizing giving back to the community and encouraging local kids to pursue big dreams in basketball. In Sumter County, a 250-strong turnout for a basketball camp helped keep kids active and engaged before the school year, highlighting cross-county collaboration and positive sportsmanship. Danny Green continued his community involvement by returning to Laredo for a second consecutive year to host a free basketball camp, reinforcing his ties to Texas and his championship pedigree. Together, these events illustrate how players at different levels are investing in youth development and regional basketball ecosystems during the off-season.
