Rory McIlroy says he feels safe competing at the Abu Dhabi Championship despite regional tensions, citing assurances from the DP World Tour and UAE authorities and the country’s defense systems. He acknowledged that an airspace closure could leave players stranded, while tournament officials have briefed players and caddies on safety procedures, including suspending play if an official alert is issued. Several prominent players, including Matt Fitzpatrick, are sitting out the UAE events, but McIlroy is focused on finishing the season strongly and pursuing a record-tying eighth Race to Dubai title.

If the tour is assuring everyone it's fine, McIlroy going for the record there could encourage more to compete.
