OceanaGold CEO Gerard Bond plans April 2027 retirement
OceanaGold President and CEO Gerard Bond plans to retire in April 2027 after five years leading the gold and copper producer. He will remain as a special advisor to the board and incoming CEO for six months to support the transition. The board has hired Spencer Stuart for an international search covering internal and external candidates. OceanaGold operates four mines, two in New Zealand, one in the United States and one in the Philippines, and is advancing the Katanning Gold Project through its Ausgold acquisition. Chairman Paul Benson said strategy, capital allocation, the growth pipeline and 2026 production guidance remain unchanged. Bond credited improved operational and financial performance, leadership culture and shareholder returns during his tenure. Bond said, "The outlook is incredibly bright for OceanaGold, with a strong and capable executive team and excellent leaders across all operations." Benson said, "Gerard has done a stellar job of leading OceanaGold by maximizing gold production responsibly and cultivating a winning culture. He has translated company strategy into strong shareholder returns, which is commendable." Bond plans to retire in Australia after more than three decades in the resources industry.
