Oil Falls Over 1% Amid Iran-Qatar Talks
Brent crude fell more than 1% Monday to near $112 after a third day of Iran-Qatar talks. Business Upturn had Brent at $111.92, down $1.51; Times of India citing Reuters listed $111.84, down $1.59, with WTI near $102.50 on both. Tim Waterer of KCM Trade said: "Oil is seeing a technical pullback this morning after last week’s strong gains." He said lingering hopes of diplomatic progress, with no meaningful military escalation over the weekend, had taken some immediate heat out of prices. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Doha talks on a two-day proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz had not reached a settled result. President Trump said Iran wants to "make a deal," negotiations are "going fine," and Washington would not launch further attacks before Tuesday's midterms. Friday's more than 2% rally had left Brent at its highest since late April. OPEC+ kept December targets unchanged. Waterer said post-midterms rhetoric could drive Brent toward $120. CONTESTED: Business Upturn and Times of India/Reuters differ on exact Brent and WTI prints and timestamps; no dispute found on the talks calendar, the OPEC+ hold, or Trump's quoted remarks.
