Police Say Warren Sapp Disrupted Tampa Council Meeting
Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp was asked to leave Tampa City Hall after an alleged disturbance in an office next to the City Council chambers during a presentation on a contentious flood-prevention project. Council Chair Alan Clendenin paused the meeting multiple times, ordered the chambers secured, declared the disruptive individuals out of order and called a recess while police responded. Tampa police said the council requested that Sapp be trespassed for the day and that officers asked him to leave; no arrest was announced. Sapp said he was at City Hall to pick up paperwork and disputed Clendenin’s authority to remove him from the public building. Authorities have not indicated whether formal charges will be filed.
