Shotwell to Move Over 2 Million Shares Into Children’s Trump Accounts
SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell and her husband Robert are transferring more than 2 million SpaceX shares into children’s Trump Accounts starting in December, a gift valued at roughly $270 million to $290 million. Shotwell posted on X that the shares are “transferring to escrow as we speak” and “These families should receive a notice by Monday.” The first round is for children ages 11-17 in ZIP codes with median family income $57,000 or less or unreported Census data. A second round targets overseas military families, foster children, and Texas counties near the Shotwells with median income $90,000 or less. No factual dispute found. Musk replied “Cool” with a heart emoji. Shotwell’s gift is separate from Musk’s October 19 pledge of one share per child nationwide (about 72 million children, around $10.5 billion), called “the first of many.” Trump earlier said “I think he will” of a Musk donation. Shotwell first pledged on July 6, 2026 after the $135 IPO. Trump Accounts began July 4, 2026; the $1,000 deposit covers only births from Jan 2025-Dec 2028. Musk distribution details remain unpublished.
