Wesfarmers, SQM Approve Mt Holland Expansion
Wesfarmers and SQM’s Covalent Lithium have approved a major expansion of the Mt Holland lithium project in Western Australia, doubling nameplate production from about 380,000 to 760,000 tonnes per year and adding a second concentrator plus an ore sorting facility. The expansion, costing roughly A$645-715 million for Wesfarmers and targeting first production in H1 2030, aims to lower unit costs and accelerate cash flows, with stockpiled material being unlocked to add about 3 million tonnes of concentrate over the mine’s life.
