EACC seeks recovery of Kisumu prison land
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has filed civil proceedings to recover 7.6 acres of Kenya Prisons Service land in Milimani, Kisumu, valued about 790 million shillings (roughly 4.3 billion with developments) after alleging it was illegally excised and subdivided into private ownership from a 16-acre public reserve. Investigations point to a 1989 scheme involving a former Assistant Minister and other officials who allegedly used forged documents to transfer the land, now developed as Winam Estate/Grace Ogot Estate.
