Kenya Plans Universal University Funding for Students

Kenya will move to universal government funding for all students admitted to public universities and colleges starting September 2026, replacing the prior means-tested and tiered funding system. The government will cover full tuition costs with parents allowed to contribute voluntarily, and Parliament must approve enabling legislation and budget adjustments to implement the expansion.
