London man fined £400 for 14-year-old assault

Abdul Barkeeh Salihi, a 24-year-old Afghan national, groped a 14-year-old during a Harry Potter Diagon Alley sight-seeing visit at Leadenhall Market in London, following another incident that day where he slapped a 42-year-old woman; he was fined £400, with a £160 victim surcharge, and will be on the sex offenders register for five years. The case was described by police as deeply distressing and no jail time was imposed.

Lee Ryan loses High Court challenge

Blue frontman Lee Ryan, 43, lost High Court bids to overturn his racially aggravated assault conviction from a July 2022 British Airways flight, where he allegedly called a cabin crew member a “sweet chocolate chip cookie,” grabbed her wrists and made race‑related comments after being refused more alcohol; he was originally given a suspended sentence, which has since been revisited for sentencing. He remains set to be sentenced after the High Court rejected challenges to overturn the conviction and return the case to Crown Court.
