SDP Seeks Appeal Court Stay on Osun Candidate
The Social Democratic Party has asked the Court of Appeal in Abuja to stay the execution of a Federal High Court ruling that recognised Olaitan Salawu-Adeniyi as its 2026 Osun governorship candidate and to restrain INEC from implementing the decision while the appeal is determined, arguing the High Court’s order enforced a Court of Appeal ruling already set aside by the Supreme Court. The SDP maintains the matter centers on which faction can field a candidate and contends the June 24 judgment contradicts the Supreme Court’s May 22 ruling, effectively reviving a voided decision and undermining the appeal process.
