DuVernay's 14th World Premieres as NYFF Closing Night
Ava DuVernay’s documentary 14th will world premiere as the Closing Night selection of the 64th New York Film Festival, screening October 9 at Alice Tully Hall and arriving on Netflix later this year; the film serves as a ten-year follow-up to 13th and examines how the 14th Amendment’s protections—birthright citizenship, due process, and equal protection—are being challenged in recent years. The project features a broad slate of voices, including Democrats and Republicans, legal scholars, and commentators, continuing a conversation about who is counted in America and how democratic norms have evolved since 13th opened NYFF in 2016.
