ICPC Uncovers 908 Ghost Workers Across Federal MDAs

Nigeria’s Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered a nationwide payroll fraud involving 908 ghost workers across more than 50 federal MDAs, recovering about ₦942 million in fraudulent salaries. The Nigeria Police Force accounts for the largest share with 570 suspected fake workers, and investigations, sparked by pension irregularities in 2024, remain ongoing as officials say relatives and associates were sometimes listed to divert funds and reform measures like IPPIS are being pursued.
