Amravati spiritual leader booked for rape, POCSO; absconding

A spiritual leader of Anand Math in Amravati, Dattagiri Guru Jairamji Maharaj, has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and POCSO Act for allegedly raping and sexually exploiting a woman who was a minor when the abuse began in 2016, with police launching a search for him as he remains absconding. The case is being investigated by Chandur Railway police, with the survivor’s account detailing repeated offenses over the years and further probe underway.
