Top seed Zverev survives five-hour US Open thriller

Alexander Zverev advanced to the US Open fourth round with a 6-2, 7-6(2), 6-2 victory over Alejandro Tabilo after back-to-back five-set matches lasting more than nine hours. He will face 21st seed Luciano Darderi next. Defending champion Coco Gauff beat Cristina Bucsa 6-3, 6-4 and will meet 18-year-old American Iva Jovic, while Naomi Osaka defeated Elise Mertens 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 despite an Achilles issue and will face second seed Elena Rybakina. Taylor Fritz, Madison Keys and Amanda Anisimova were among the Americans eliminated, while Iga Swiatek and Mirra Andreeva also advanced.
