Big Ten expands live replay reviews to 2026 conference games

The Big Ten will begin Saturday, September 12, providing enhanced replay transparency on television broadcasts of all 2026 conference games and home nonconference games handled by Big Ten on-field and replay crews, expanding a plan initially limited to Friday night contests. Broadcasts may show the play under review, live conversations between the referee and replay official, and views from the league’s replay center. The change follows Michigan’s controversial 13-12 win over Western Michigan, in which replay officials restored one second after the broadcast clock appeared to reach zero, allowing Michigan to win on a 47-yard Hail Mary. The Mid-American Conference and Western Michigan appealed, arguing that replay procedures were not properly followed, but the NCAA said it cannot overturn a result once officials have declared it final. Separately, the NCAA directed conferences to use the embedded game clock in the broadcast feed when replay reviews require time adjustments, a standard that could have changed the outcome of the Michigan game.

I hope the replay center access actually speeds things up instead of dragging out games with extra scrutiny in every conference matchup.
It's smart they're adding video of the reviews too, but skipping the Michigan-Oklahoma matchup seems like an odd exception that could frustrate viewers.
This live audio between refs should clear up a lot of the confusion fans have after close calls like that Western Michigan game.
