Palmer, Rashford, Mainoo Expected to Miss England Duty

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer is reportedly set to withdraw from England’s squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures to manage his workload, despite being recalled by manager Thomas Tuchel after missing the World Cup. Palmer played the full 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Brentford and has made seven appearances this season, but his recent injury history has prompted a cautious approach. Manchester United players Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford are also doubts, with Mainoo managing an undisclosed issue and Rashford having been withdrawn from United’s draw with Fulham because of what manager Michael Carrick called a minor problem. England are scheduled to face Spain, Czechia twice and Croatia during the international break, while Tuchel had said Palmer would need to perform to retain his place in the team.
