Braves exercise $17 million option on Acuña, $7 million on Albies for 2027
The Atlanta Braves exercised their 2027 club options for outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. at $17 million and second baseman Ozzie Albies at $7 million. Acuña, the 2023 NL MVP, hit 20 home runs, drove in 55 runs and stole 21 bases in 107 games; Atlanta also holds a separate $17 million option for him in 2028. Albies played all 162 games, hitting 22 home runs with 73 RBIs, a .237 average and a .685 OPS, with his production dipping further in the second half. The 2027 season is the final year of Albies’ current club-controlled deal, while Acuña could remain under contract through 2028. Atlanta also reinstated pitchers Spencer Schwellenbach, Spencer Strider, Hurston Waldrep and Joey Wentz from the 60-day injured list.
