Tarantino Unveils 17 Minutes of Cliff Booth

Quentin Tarantino surprised an AFI Fest audience at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Oct. 23, 2026, by screening the first 17 minutes of The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and a Jacqueline Coley Q&A. He offered to talk about the film or show the footage. Written by Tarantino and directed by David Fincher, it returns Brad Pitt as Cliff Booth in 1977. Footage shows Cliff at the New Beverly Cinema before two men visit. IMAX run starts Nov. 25, 2026 for two weeks; Netflix drops Dec. 23. Kirsten Chuba reported Tarantino citing a review that Once Upon a Time was a world he would want to live in, calling Cliff a paperback hero, and saying he invests in the mythology so the audience can trust he knows it. He said if he watches any of his movies it would be this one, and that being a man of letters is more his thing as he ages. Jazz Tangcay reported Reynolds agreeing to play George Spahn and rehearsing before dying, Dern taking the role, and Tarantino discussing an upcoming play. Cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Peter Weller. No account disputes the core facts.
