The Oval to host 2027 World Test Final
The Oval in London has been confirmed as the host venue for the ICC World Test Championship Final in 2027, with the match scheduled for June 9–13. The ICC has also granted the England and Wales Cricket Board rights to host three consecutive WTC Finals in 2027, 2029, and 2031. This will mark The Oval’s second time hosting the final, after it staged the 2023 decider where Australia defeated India. The decision comes amid concerns over pitch quality at Lord’s, with MCC and ECB moving the 2027 final to The Oval as part of efforts to improve surfaces and schedule logistics. England will still host the event cycle per the ECB-ICC agreement, while competition for a place in the final continues among nine nations. The shift also aligns with a broader backdrop of ongoing series and standings shaping the race to the final, including notable matchups later this year and next.
